500 QCP
MABUHAY!
Waikato Filipino Association is excited to officially join the 500 Quincentennial Commemorations in the Philippines (500QCP). This commemorates the 500 years of the Victory at Mactan, the Philippine part in the first circumnavigation of the world, and other related events in 2021 as featured here. In Waikato, the 500 QCP event highlights are as follows:

- Saturday Morning, 24th April
- 10:00 AM - Mass, Cathedral of the Blessed Virgin Mary
- 11:30 AM - 500 Human Formation
- 12:00 Noon - Lunch, Palengke
- 02:00 PM - Cultural Presentation, G.Sullivan Centre
LAUNCHING MASS
With the Filipino chaplaincy spearheading the liturgical aspect of the 500 Centennial Commemorative celebrations in the Hamilton Diocese, Fr Nanding is calling on the members of all ecclesial communities to attend the Launching Mass on Saturday 13 March 2021, 10am in the St Matthew’s Catholic Church, Silverdale, Hamilton.
He messaged: “Ang obispo ng Hamilton (Bishop Steve Lowe) ang mag-preside ng Mass na ‘to. Paki-sabi sa lahat ng Filipino lalo na sa nandito sa buong diocese covering Waikato, Bay of Plenty at Gisborne.”

NETKAPIHAN TALAKAYAN
Direk Nonoy Molina who hosts the virtual talk show, NetKapihan, will have a special edition on March 16, 2021 from 7pm with guests that will include personalities involved with the commemoration in New Zealand.

The number 500 is significant in the Philippine Quincentennial celebrations and to form the number 500 composed of individuals is a unique expression of the Waikato Filipino Association for the celebrations. CULTURAL PRESENTATION
As a way of telling the stories of the First Baptism in Cebu, the Battle of Mactan and the First Circumnavigation of the World, this cultural activity will stage re-enactments of these events. Special song and dance items from WFA FAME & WFA Dance Troupe will also be featured.
